Find the shape you’ve dreamed of
There are many reasons for making the choice to augment your breasts, whether it be because you feel your own are too large or too small, asymmetrical, or not as perky as they once were following a pregnancy and childbirth. Many women also choose surgery to reconstruct their breasts after a mastectomy to treat breast cancer. If you have any questions at all about whether a breast augmentation procedure could be right for you, please call us and we will set you up an appointment with one of our doctors.
Worried implants won’t look natural? Not to worry — you’re not the first, and the technology behind breast enhancement has made great strides over time. Breast implants come in many sizes and shapes, and you have a choice of implants with silicone or saline.
Neither is inherently better, though many surgeons prefer one or the other. Both are encased in silicone and designed to last. The difference is in their feel and look.
For a more natural and authentic-looking implant, you might prefer silicone implants. These come already filled with silicone gel approved by the FDA.
Saline implants, on the other hand, contain a sterile solution similar to bodily fluids that contains salt water. They are initially empty when they are inserted in the chest and are filled later. If the implant ruptures or leaks, this solution can be safely absorbed by the body.
After a 14-year ban on silicone implants, the FDA again approved them for use in 2006. As a result, implants are now 72 percent silicone nationwide.
